What type of data logger do I need? Hello. I am searching for a somewhat basic, economical, 4 or 8 input data logger that can accept a variety of external sensor inputs. I am interested in recording the basics, such as temperature and humidity, but I would also like the flexibility to incorporate sensors such as electromagnetic radiation, opto sensors, seismic or geiger, etc. The problem that I have been running into is that many data loggers only use their proprietary sensors. I would need to incorporate third-party sensors that, perhaps, natively plug into an oscilloscope, etc. I need flexibility, but something that is a value. Best GPS Data Logger for Geotagging with Canon Eos 450d? I have a Canon EOS 450d and I want a good GPS data logger I can keep in my pocket or bag and use to geotag my photo's. I don't need it for in car navigation or anything like that just geotagging, although I've seen the GlobalSat GH-625 watch which I would be curious to know if thats any good as I do a lot of running. otherwise I've been looking at things like GlobalSat DG-100 or Amod AGL3080 GPS Photo Tracker. What sensors can I use for my Data Logger? Hello. I purchased a graphic data logger that can accept four external sensors. I will be using the data logger in a protected, weather-sealed location, and I need to monitor such data as temperature, barometric pressure, electromagnetic and radiative fields, etc. The logger specs says that it can interface with any 2-wire or 4-wire sensor, operating within the range of 0-30vdc, at 4-20mA. I have a device, a data logger, its voltage range is 0-30 vdc I need to read ranges of 40-50 vdc. Ideas? The data logger only handles 0-30 vdc but the phone line that I need to monitor and log is supposed to be at 48 vdc. I am looking for a low cost easy way to half the voltage in order to be able to monitor the line. The purpose of the exercise is that I have an issue with the phone lines, the fire alarm has been losing phone lines between 4 & 10 times a day. All of the wires have been replaced and triple verified. The problem persists. Verizon has come 3 times each time scratching their heads and "fixing it" but the problem persists. The school is incurring alarm signal fees and we are worried about life safety. I talked to Verizon about it and they said if I could log the loss of line or voltage that would give them reason to look further. I obtained a Laskar EL-3-USB Data Logger. They told me that if I voltage doubled it would be ok that the 96 v for the ring voltage would just spike the reading. That is the totality of the issue and why I need a reasonable solution that I can buy or build cheap. I am footing the cost from my pocket to help.

using a pulley to measure velocity/momentum/energy..? I'm doing an experiment using an air track, and my school only has one photogate/lightgate. So I'm trying to figure out a way of using the pulley (not an actual pulley, one that is used with a data logger to record time and velocity) without it effecting the experiment...We have tried heaps of different ways but all the things we have done have either added too much drag to the air track trolley thing so it hasn't been able to move freely or the wire of the pulley has interfered (as it's connected to the data logger) and it has pulled the trolley down the track...so i'm stuck...Anyone got any ideas?? Or know of any other way we can measure the trolleys? (by the way, my experiment is to do with collisions (momentum and energy))

How can I reinforce a copper coil antenna? I'm using RFID antennas (copper coils) for some zoological research that tracks animal movement. The antennas consist of a copper coil (15 loops of 0.25mm diameter Cu wire), connected by its ends (soldered) to a length of coaxial cable that feeds into a data logger unit. I've reinforced the fork where coax meets coil with some marine epoxy glue. The coil itself is coated with liquid electrical tape. I'm having a problem, though, because where the stiff, glued section meets the more flexible part of the coil, the wires are able to bend back and forth, and I've had several antennas break. Does anyone have any clever ideas of how I could reinforce the coil to prevent the wires breaking, but still maintain some flexibility so that they don't cause discomfort to the animals? Thanks in advance! John Thanks Demondoppel. I should have made it a bit more clear.. The stem leading to the coil resides almost entirely inside the data logger case, and hasn't been a weak area. The breakages tend to occur on the coil itself (e.g. a semicircle snaps off), and I think this is because I also put a dot a glue at the sides of the loop, and these adhese to the animals' fur. This makes another rigid-flexible transition, meaning that the coil has a consistent point at which to bend back and forth, leading to snaping of the copper. Thanks for your advice though. Heat-shrink tubing won't work, because it's a coil. There's no way for me to thread the tubing over the coil, unless I was to thread each loop of the coil through the tubing as I made the loop... which doesn't seem practical. How do I calculate the effective capacity of a switched battery power supply? I have to calculate the effective capacity of a Li-Ion battery with a switching regulator. What the battery-fed supply does, is switching its output between 7.2V and 0V, with the ratio between off and on determined by its setting; at 75%, it's supposed to be switched on 75% of the time. I can't use the 100% setting to get 100% output: it still switches off and on. I think it's to prevent the battery from shorting out at high loads. That's the reason I'm asking this question. So how do I calculate the effective output? Is it the average of all voltages (I use a data logger) during the entire unloading of the battery (e.g. 7.2V, 0V, 0V, 7.2V, 7.2V, 7.2V etcetera), or is it the RMS value? RMS gives a higher value (of course) but is meant for AC power (where a simple average would give me 0V) so picking the right one is essential to calculate the battery's capacity. My goal is to make sure the Ah-rating provided by the (Chinese) manufacturer of the battery casing is correct, because the cells are of unknown origin and it looks like they have a lower capacity than rated. RMS calculations give me a higher voltage than the average, using the data I measured. I suspected RMS is useless here but I couldn't find information about this anywhere, although I did find that RMS is meant for AC calculations.

Looking for a hand held GPS which only needs to display coordinates and work world-wide? I am starting to get into Geo-tagging my pictures and would like to continue. Right now my process is sort of crude due to the fact that I only give the general area of where I might have taken the picture. I am looking for information and suggestions on two things. 1) should I purchase an inexpensive hand held GPS unit which works world-wide and would only needs to display coordinates so that I could tag my pics with those coordinates. or should I buy a gps unit which has the possibility of tracking and then upload the pics and track file to my pc, or just buy a GPS data logger and do it like that. 2) do you know of any inexpensive hardware for my project. the most important things are- worldwide and some how keep track of coordinates so that I can link them to the picture

As the delivery nears its recipient, there was the next scan report indicating: [4:16AM - time] OUT FOR DELIVERY. Then later at [7:42AM - time] THE DELIVERY INTERCEPT REQUEST FOR THIS PACKAGE WAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED / THE ADDRESS HAS BEEN CORRECTED. THE DELIVERY HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED. What does this mean? I know there's an interception expected, but why was it rescheduled? At the time it was already out for delivery it was later informed that it's been rescheduled. Does this mean that the package was returned to the warehouse? or does this mean that, while the driver was on its way, he was informed that the package needs to be delivered to the re-routed / intercepted address like say via a radio or a data logger at 7:42AM - the driver must have confirmed? As of now my last report was the one indicated above at 7:42AM. No new updates yet... could the item be on its way? or i should expect the item the next day? Second Life errors still a issue? Unable to open "Second Life". I click on the second life icon on my desktop the usual routines happen aka little boxes showing data being unpacked and then suddenly a windows error message pops up. Second Life: Secondlife.exe - Application Error The Instruction at "0x69503013" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read" Click on OK to terminate the program OK Also the second life crash logger appears. I have tried everything to get by this problem un-istalling second life re-installing, clearing my cache files, deleting all Second life files and starting over again (sorry if im not being too specific i've tried many ways to overocme this issue but have found none) This Issue started when i suddenly crashed in Second Life and so did my computer restarting itself when i came to my settings the problem occured. Software issue!!!? Have purchased a U.S.B cable and data suite c.d rom for my samsung D500 mobile to connect to my p.c to upload pics and download music! When i put the C.D in the drive my A.V.G. antivirus blocks it running and tells me it has a Logger.Ransom.a virus which can detect keystrokes and send details of private accounts! I can't play second life, as soon as I open the program, it shows a screen, looks like it is loading, but all you see is black screen then a little box pops up that says Second Life Crash Logger. In the box it says detecting system hardware... then changes to transmitting data then says complete. I tried updating directx, that didn't work. I couldn't access the cache for the game. I am running vista and my computer meets all the requirements. The videocard is a ATI radeon xpress 1150m. What could possibly be going wrong, I really want to start playing this game.

I've noticed weird changes or my computer will be on even though I know I turned it off. I'm concerned about several things: 1 she's stealing my ideas 2 stealing my financial data 3 compromising my security. I've placed a password on my computer but nothing seems to stop her. I've started hiding my computer. I'd like to put a key logger or key stroke logger on my pc to see if she's really doing this. I know I sound paranoid but something is going on. I'd like something that won't be picked up by the virus protector and something that will capture user names & passwords, chat logs, files looked at & web pages.. If I catch her in the act I can do something about it. Any programs out there? If it's free that's even better! How do I use encryption?

Help with Utorrent!? Download speeds never excceeds 2 kbps, always hovering around 0.2 to 0.5 kbps although i'm actually connected to the seeds. I have forwarded my ports and there is a green light (with a tick) at the bottom of my client. I've checked the ports using the utorrent port checker thingy and it says that the port is open. I've maxed my TCP connections but it doesn't help. I also encrypted my data. Desperation! Can someone help? I'm using Singnet via the Mio contract. Does Singnet Throttle Bittorrent Traffic? I'm connected torrents with like 300 seeds and 10+ leechers but i'm not uploading or downloading anything! This problem only occurred recently, dunno why.. Notes: Under all the logger tabs of all my torrents, are these 2 logs. "Error opening Windows firewall: 0x80040154" then followed a few secs later by "unable to map UPnP port". But the people in the Utorrent forums told me to ignore those as long as i got a green light with a tick at the bottom of the client.

Utorrent help? am having problems with this torrent for downloading movies called Utorrent. has any1 used it before? For some reason its not downloading and when i click on the Logger tab, it keeps saying Error opening. I dont understand whats wrong. Enthalpy of reaction for Magnesium and Hydrochloric Acid? I've done an experiment to calculate the enthalpy change of reaction for the reaction between 1M HCl and Magnesium. The magnesium was added to the acid in a reaction vessel and the temperature recorded at 10 second intervals until a maximum temp was reached. We did an experiment before exactly the same with a data logger using Zinc and Copper Sulphate. We then plotted a cooling curve. Because this time I didn't wait for the temperatures to start decreasing, I can't plot a cooling curve :( - does this matter? Would a cooling curve not be appropriate for this reaction? Can I just perform the equation using change in temperature as it occured in the reaction vessel? Thanks
