Lumberjack

Monty Python Lumberjack Song Knowledge Base

Has the Monty Python "Lumberjack Song" ever been performed by REAL R.C.M.P. officers? Just watching "And Now For Something Completely Different..." at the part where they do "I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay..." and it's accompanied by Python members and other actors dressed up as Canadian Mounties. Have real RCMP/Mounites officers ever performed that song?

Lumberjack song? I've heard the Monty Python Lumberjack sketch features George Harrison singing the song. Could someone please verify this, and point out which burly woodsman he is?
What is a good Monty Python sketch for an on stage performance? I'm competing in a man pageant, ha ha and for my talent portion I want to do a Python sketch. It should have a central character and be easily adaptable for stage. I'm thinking the lumberjack song, but I need some more ideas. There are so many I have probably over looked some gems! Any ideas? Thanks.
Is your home town (no cities too easy) in a song or film? I've just found out my home town has been immortalised in song (40yrs ago). And not just any song, a song everyone both sides of the Atlantic knows (if they're over 25 anyway). Although my home town is mentioned in the Doomsday Day Book of 1086AD. Over almost 1000 years we have achieved nothing that has awarded us any acclaim and produced no public figures of any significance. Yes, the gene pool. My town, Ruilsip in Middlesex, we're on the north-western edge of Greater London And the song none other than MONTY PYTHON'S LUMBERJACK SONG brilliant heres a link if you think I'm making it up http://www.lyrics007.com/Monty%20Python%20Lyrics/(Complete)lumberjack%20Song%20Lyrics.html So can anybody not top that? (Love my town really, ashamed I only just found this out)
For my Discordian brethren and sistren: Are the members of Monty Python Saints or Sages? With such classics as the Lumberjack Song (in both English and German), The Holy Handgrenade of Antioch, and the Ministry of Silly Walks would you agree that it could be considered Discordian/Erisean catma that the Pythoneers be counted among the ranks of our most profound sages? They would be in the illustrious company of RAW and Douglas Adams if this is the case (although they would be LIVING Sages while the others are not) But ANYONE can be declared a Saint of Eris. My cats are after all.... But the punchline to the Lumberjack Song can assist in Pineal gland cleansing. When the Discordian said "It's an ill wind that blows no minds" -- the wind said in reply "Blow your own mind" As Douglas Adams is the Late Adamsdouglasadams, unfortunately our collective teatimes of the soul will suffer the fate of Dentarthurdent's first house.... :-(

Does any know of a religion that has trolls in it? The Cyber Troll Song - Sung to the tune of the Lumberjack Song by Monty Python http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/montypython5.shtml I'm a cyber troll and I'm okay, I troll all night and I flame all day. He's a cyber troll and he's okay, He trolls all night and he flames all day. I set my sites, on a friendly folk, I know they all hate me On forums I go trolling And catch some pawns for tea He sets his sites, on friendly folk He knows they all hate he. On forums he goes trolling And catches pawns for tea He's a cyber troll, and he's okay, He trolls all night and he flames all day. I wreck their threads, give them the hump I laugh as sites turn sour. I put on my disguises, And screw around for hours. He wrecks their threads, gives them the hump He laughs as sites turn sour He puts on his disguises And screws around for hours He's a cyber troll, and he's okay, He trolls all night and he flames all day. I break down threads, I rant and rave, Got twelve identities And no one knows my gender Or knows just who I be He breaks down threads he rants and raves Got twelve identities And no one knows his gender Or knows just who he be He's a cyber troll, and he's OKAAAAAAAAAAYYY. He trolls all night and he flames all day

Do you remember the Mike Douglas Show? My father apparently performed Monty Python's "Lumberjack Song" on the Mike Douglas Show in the 70's. I'm trying to find a copy of said video. Apparently there's a copy somewhere in his house, but it's in BETA format. I'd like to be able to transition it into digital format if that's possible. Unless I can find it online. So, I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that has seen the video and knows where I can get a copy of it. Thanks!!!
Time to confess it all...what instrument would you REALLY like to learn to play? This is inspired by Miss LimLam's question yesterday, where she invited us all to disclose which instruments we play. And what a wonderful variety of answers! My question takes this subject into a deeper, darker, damper place. I'm sure you all have an instrument you'd love to learn, but for some reason you never did, because you didn't have the opportunity/courage/thumbs-up from family/tolerant neighbours, etc. Or maybe you harbour a yearning to play an instrument that is so UNLIKE our friends' perceptions of who we are, and you're afraid of the possible repercussions ... But you can confess it here! We're all friends! We'll keep your secret - promise! Just to get things going...right, here's MY confession: in the spirit of Monty Python's "Lumberjack Song:" "I didn't want to be [just] a bassoonist, I wanted to be a BANJO PLAYER in a bluegrass band!" Yes, truly-ooooly. And you know, one day, I might just learn the banjo...hmmm, maybe that's why I recently moved up into the mountains...there's something going on here... Anyway, have fun! Cheers, Hafwen.
Have you sung to your cat lately? Oh, just admit it. You did. What song did you sing? (I sang a version of Monty Python's "I'm a Lumberjack" to Buddy yesterday. I think he sneered at my lack of sophistication.) DANCES WITH CATS - I just saw your resolved question ... the Furminator is GREAT!!! My shorthair loves it, and it's rather shocking how much hair comes off of her. My longhair will tolerate it for a few strokes, but not much more. Buy on eBay - much cheaper.
Have you had any really absurd "violations" lately, crazy like this one? Answers" <answers-abuse@cc.yahoo-inc.com> Frankly, I wonder why this was violated. this was an attempt to make Monty Python fans to do a "call and response". If you aren't aware, "The Lumberjack Song" was one of the most famous Monty Python skits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDrIMzHzQQk&mode=related&search= In any event, this was done with no harm intended, whatsoever. Do you know this joke song about Canada? Its something like: I'm Canadian but I'm not gay I'm just so polite that it seem that way (I think to the tune of "I'm a lumberjack but I'm ok" from monty python) I guess I should be more clear, I was looking for the rest of the lyrics. PS It is ILLEGAL to drive in Nova Scotia or Quebec while talking on a cellphone. Be thankful you didn't get a ticket. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
