How do I get rid of trees in my backyard if I can't afford to pay to have them cut down?
These tree people charge a fortune to cut down a tree and I am on a fixed income, can't pay their price. Most of them are cedar trees and a few are pine or some other kind.I heard there's a way to kill them but don't know how to do that. Any ideas? Thanks in advance I live in Va....USA

- burn them down, its a good idea... i swear
- you don't unless you cut them little by little
- buy a tree
- Try eating them.
- 1.BUY A COUPLE OF WOODPECKERS 2.THE BIG GERMAN KIND 3. WAIT THIRTY YEARS
- use red devil lye to kill them
- Pour bleach on the roots...around the base, but they may eventually fall down then. You can also cut the roots that snake out into the yard, but thats a lot of work.
- Bad idea don't burn them buy chain saw and cut them ur self after u done return it to the store
- Invest in a chainsaw. And if you aren't planning on doing the job yourself. Try to get some people to help you.
- A copper nail in the trunk works, as does a chemical called 2-4D (but be careful with it). If you really want them down fast, send a message to the White House claiming the Muslim extremists keep hiding secret messages in them... The cover your ears and stay away from the windows when the Apache choppers come roaring through. Benefit to this is the chain guns will turn the trees into firewood and you don't even have to lift an axe.
- check with a local group like the scouts, rotary maybe they can help
- well....if you killem...they will fall......... then you have a mess to clean up...... you can run an add stating that you have FREE trees for removal....visit a local printing company to get the proper documents to have the "said" party sign as to accept all damage incuured if dropped on a bldg....if they are near one...if not.....lotsa people will remove them for firewood seeing how its winter time.....just make them sign that they will COMPLETELY remove allllll debris!!! cover yer butt......
- Advertise them as firewood. Tell them they can cut it and haul it away. You probably have several hundred dollars in wood sitting out there. In Montana, a cord of firewood is going for about 200 a cord. You have probably got about 3000 dollars or more in potential income.
- sewnmema, Dear just ask around many guys will cut them down and clean up just for the wood !
- ...when you say "tree(s)"...More then "one"... how big are they, "tall" etc. "diameter" etc. because, you can most likely hire a neighbor "kid" with a chain-saw then go to Home Depot and get some "stump out" (chemical) and let "technology" do the rest... it's a process but it will work. (then too...after "they" are cut down... you've got to consider how "they" will be removed...unless you're going to cut them up for fire-wood.)
- Let them grow. One day, you'll be glad you did. Trees are survivors if man doesn't kill them and fires don't burn them. They're home for other living beings. Cedar trees don't get termites and carpenter ants. And they smell good. Rethink your decision.
- If you kill them, someone is still going to have to cut them down. Do you have anyone who can use a chain saw? Preferably someone who isn't an idiot? The tree types you mentioned aren't particularly large trees, I wouldn't think, so removing them shouldn't be very hard. You can rent a chain saw for not that much per day, so maybe you have a family member or friend who can take care of it. Alternatively, if you have a neighbor with a fireplace, maybe he'd be willing to take them down. He might even be willing to pay whatever it takes if he can have the wood when it's down.
- Kill them by girdling them. Cut the bark and the underlying soft tissue of a tree trunk and extend around all of the trunk's circumference. Be careful a dead tree is more likely to fall eventually and looks ugly.
- Lots of ways to kill a tree. Unfortunately, the result is that the tree falls down, usually in an inconvenient manner, such as on top of a fence, building, or person.
- There is a chemical product called Dropping Roots. You can buy it a Lowes. If there are no Lowes in your area you can order on-line. You poor it on the base of the trees and the roots die and the tree rots little by little. There is a chance of the tree falling after it has roted and could damage property. It is a good idea to go ahead and pull the tree before it is completely rotten.
- Advertise on Craigslist.org in your area for someone to cut them down and haul away the wood for free...just make sure they are insured. Lots of people do this to sell for firewood.
